Home Service -Josivania's Birthday- March 16, 2012

Josivania is is one of our teen girls. She turned 14 on March 16. Her parents, Josair and Helena had a service at their home. Their place was crowded with many relatives, friends and neibors who were invited. Not everyone could fit under the makeship roof in their yard. Pr. César's preach was wonderful the many there heard the gospel message. Our pray is that the people will think about what they heard. After the service we celebrated Josi's birthday with "salgados" (Brazilian meat pies) and cake. It was a very lovely evening.

International Day of the Woman March 8, 2012

March had several days to celebrate. There was Pastor's Wife Day, Prayer Day, and International Day of Women on March 8. We celebrated it on March 11 at church. The women of the church sang the hymn, "Trust and Obey" The pastor's wives, Roza and Zoe were given a token of their appreciation. Then Roza surprized Zoe and I with an azelia for the work in the church (although I'm not a pastor's wife). After Pr. César's message we celebrated Communion. At the end of the service plants were given out to all the women. It was a blessed day.

Lilies

I enjoy plants, especially those that have flowers. We have had a lot of rain this winter season which has been good for my garden. The white ones have a delicate fragrance, especially at night. These beautiful yellow ones grow several feet tall. I am thankful for God's wonderful creativity in creating such beautiful flowers for His glory and for us to enjoy. I'll have to take pictures of the other side of the sidewalk and do another post to show.

Senior's Day - February 26, 2012

On Sunday, the 26 church honored the seniors (called idosos in Portuguese) in the church. Of course I am now included in that group and the oldest one in the church except for Zoe's 80+ father visiting from the United States. After the service, the children gave a special reading and the little ones dressed as an older person.

House Service at Roza's and César's Home

After six months living in the two room guest apartment at the Peffer's, Roza and Pr. César finally moved into a rented home of their own. They had a thanksgiving service at their home inviting the church people and neighbors and the house was full. Everyone enjoyed the fellowship and Pastor César's short message. It was also Geizila's birthday who came up from Cuiabá to be with her folks. So of course we had cake to celebrate.

César and Roza - Installation Service-February 5, 2012

Our Brazilian pastor, Jaime César Lemes was installed officially as pastor of our Campo Verde church. We had the service out doors under the roof of our new church building that is being built.
One of our leaders, Wanderson, led the opening worship. The Pastor Don Peffer gave a short message to the pastor and then Pastor Eliezar from our Tijucal church and president of Missão Bereana do Brasil (our local national mission) gave a message to the church. Roza and Pr. César spoke to the church and their heart for the ministry in Campo Verde. The pastors and visiting leaders of our chuches gathered around for a prayer of dedication for this very special couple. They are doing a great job and the church loves them dearly.

They have four children, two of which are still in high school. the older two live in Cuiabá working and studying at the university.
