Closing VBS Program- January 28

The closing program of our Bible school was held Saturday afternoon outside under the roof of our church construction. The children were encouraged to bring their parents, only a few parents came. We sang the songs we sang during the week, the shepherd gave a synopsis of his lessons and I also gave a review of the gospel. Those who had prayed to ask Jesus into their lives and make Him their savior were presented and each received a Gospel of John and Pastor César prayed for them. The older group recited Psalm 23 and later the 7 children who memorized the whole Psalm recited it again. The little kids sang a song about sheep with their masks on and also recited Psalm 23:1.

Afterwards prizes were given out to all the kids for their participation as VBS and the banner the older kids had made. Pastor César made some closing comments and invited them all to our church services. Then a small lunch was served; hot dogs cooked in a tomato sauce.

Vacation bible School - January 23-28, 2012

In January our Campo Verde church held a week of Bible School. This year our theme was Jesus is my Good Shepherd.
Also all our teens a great job helping with the registration, manning the computer, recreation, and preparing the snacks. Two of the teens came every day the week before helping with the preparations. We had 29-59 kids each day.

I was responsible for the opening session leading the salutations to our Brazilian and Christian flags and the Bible. Our memory verse was Psalm 23 which the children memorized a portion each day. We also had a moment with the "pastor" who talked to the children everyday about sheep and the Good Shepherd based on John 10 and also the story of the "lost sheep". I also did a Gospel Moment where each day I talked to the kids about the gospel sharing a part each day. On Thursday an invitation was given and we had 19 kids from ages 8-13 respond asking Jesus into their lives. There were also about 10 little ones who prayed to accept Jesus as their Savior.

Zoe Peffer taught the little kids about the life of David while Roza, our pastor's wife, taught the older kids. It was a wonderful week, full of blessings. We now pray that we might reach the parents of these kids for Christ.
